WASHINGTON, [May 22] – Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, responded Thursday to the news that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) have indefinitely postponed patent reform action in the U.S. Senate.

Congressman Collins said: “The Senate has to stop being the place where good legislation goes to die. The House did the work to create the strong patent reform bill that this country needs and our constitution requires. Our bicameral legislature was not designed so one body could consistently thwart the productivity of the other. Senate leadership needs to consider the incredible bipartisan strides that have been made in patent reform and stop allowing those who disrespect and stifle American innovation and creativity their moment in the sun.”

Congressman Doug Collins is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, and has been vocal on the patent reform process.  See more here, here, and here.
