COLLINS WELCOMES PASSAGE OF NO TAXPAYER FUNDING FOR ABORTION ACT

Northeast Georgia’s Congressman Co-Sponsored Pro-Life Legislation

WASHINGTON, Jan 28 – Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) today welcomed the passage of H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.  Co-sponsored by Congressman Collins, H.R. 7 makes permanent current legislation and agreements that ban the use of federal funds for abortions, as well as the use of federal funds for health benefits that cover abortions.

Congressman Collins said, “This bill helps ensure that taxpayer dollars are directed to care that preserves and improves life—not a procedure that guarantees death. While I’m saddened that not everyone believes as I do that each life is a gift from God and must be protected, I know the majority of the American people agree that abortion should not be a government-funded practice.  Today’s vote helps make this law once and for all.”

During debate today, Congressman Collins shared from his family’s personal experience with the issue of abortion.  See his full remarks here.
