WASHINGTON—Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) released the following statement after the House passed nearly $8 billion in emergency funding to fight the coronavirus:

“After attempting to politicize this crisis and leverage it as an opportunity to further their liberal agenda, I’m glad Democrats finally chose to put politics aside and join Republicans in prioritizing our public health. By providing nearly $8 billion, this emergency funding will provide the support needed to test those who may be infected and will ultimately move us closer to finding a vaccine.”

“Congress’ number one priority should always be protecting the safety and security of our fellow Americans, and by passing this funding bill today, we are taking another step forward in fighting this public health crisis. I applaud President Trump, Vice President Pence, and the administration’s leadership in combatting this virus, and I urge the Senate to quickly send this bill to the president’s desk.”
