WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA) spent Tuesday evening with his freshman colleagues in the House of Representatives offering conservative, legislative solutions to the multiple fiscal issues that will be discussed in Washington over the next 90 days.

“I ran for three reasons, my children – Jordan, Copelan and Cameron,” Collins said. “They represent every child back in the Ninth District of Georgia who deserves a chance for a better future, and that means it is time to take a stand and say we’ve had enough of out-of-control government spending. Every dime the federal government spends comes from the wallet or pocketbook of a hardworking, American taxpayer. The legislation I’ve committed to support thus far in this Congress protects those innocent people from unjust government intrusion.”

Collins also commented on the looming debt ceiling debate:

“There’s probably been only one time I have ever agreed with President Obama,” Collins said. “It goes back to a comment he made while representing the State of Illinois. Then, Senator Obama said he would not vote for a debt ceiling increase noting the devastating results it would create for future generations.

“Well Mr. President you were right, but don’t get used to hearing that from me. There is a problem with the leadership in this country, and while the people elected you to another four-year term, my constituents in Northeast Georgia also elected me. Your administration will be held accountable to the American people for the financial blunders you’ve created.”
