Gainesville Resident Sarah Beth Schulte Will Attend President’s Address

WASHINGTON, Jan 24 – Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) announced today that he has invited one of his constituents, Gainesville resident Sarah Beth Schulte, to attend Tuesday evening’s State of the Union Address as his guest.

Congressman Collins said, “The State of the Union gets billed as the President’s night, but we can’t forget he’s coming to the People’s House.  Young professionals just like Sarah Beth in Georgia and across the country are trying to build lives for themselves and serve others, but they’re the ones facing the economic impact of Obamacare—the failing healthcare program that was supposedly designed for them.  I’m inviting Sarah Beth to sit in the chamber Tuesday night because President Obama needs to be reminded that there’s more to governing than partisanship and political fights.  Real people are facing the uncertainty his policies have created.”

Ms. Schulte added, “I’m grateful to Congressman Collins for the opportunity to hear for myself what President Obama has to say, because I think he has a lot of explaining to do.  I have a lot of concerns about the security of Obamacare and whether it’s really going to work, and I haven’t been reassured so far. I hope President Obama comes to the Capitol Tuesday night and remembers that he’s not talking to a bunch of politicians, he’s talking to all of the people they represent.”

Sarah Beth Schulte recently moved to Georgia’s Ninth District to pursue her passion for advocating for those affected by the tragic practice of human trafficking.  She serves as Recruiting and Mobilization Coordinator for the faith-based nonprofit Rahab’s Rope, a Gainesville-based organization that fights human trafficking in India by teaching life skills to women in high-risk areas.  To support these endeavors, Rahab’s Rope operates a volunteer-supported retail store of handmade goods in downtown Gainesville.

The State of the Union Address is scheduled for 9:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28th.
