Collins: Every American should know where their representative stands on infanticide
WASHINGTON—Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) released the following statement after signing Whip Scalise’s (R-La.) discharge petition. This petition will force the House to consider the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would require medical professionals to provide the same level of care for babies who survive abortions as they would to any other newborn.
“As a father and a pastor, I believe we have a sacred responsibility to protect the lives of unborn children. Every life has value and dignity, and every child deserves a birthday,” said Collins.
“In recent months, Democrats have taken a radical stance on abortion, with some going as far as suggesting a newborn could be left to suffer after a failed abortion. Infanticide is a cruel and barbaric practice, and it is past time Congress take a stand. Every American should know where their representative stands on infanticide, which is why I’m signing this discharge petition today.”
For months, Republicans have asked for unanimous consent to consider the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act on the House floor. Democrats have rejected the motion 25 times.
Rep. Collins is an original co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
